John TREWARTHA[P113] and Jane SANDA's eldest son, c. 4 Oct 1800 appears in the register as William.
The will of John[P113] mentions his son John, whose birth has not been found, and fails to mention William.
The 1851 census for Vogue has Collan Trewartha [P176], Catharine Williams, Jane (SANDA) Trewartha (the mother of Collan and Catharine) and William Trewartha (the son of John Trewartha and Mary GODFREY) in consecutive entries, apparently on contiguous properties. (John's will had given permission for further dwelling houses to be built beside the original.)
The names of the children of William/John are the same, as far as possible, as the names of the siblings of the son of John and Jane SANDA - Mary, Elizabeth (Betsy) Collan, Joseph, Jane and Catharine. If his name was in fact William John (one explanation), he named his first two sons after himself.
It seems likely that the William in the register was John [P516} and that the entry in the register was an error.
His age was given as 41 in the 1841 census. HO107/137/12/fo27
